Constructed during the latter part of the 19th Century this
substantial and imposing residence, Elgin Tower, occupies a prominent position
on the favoured slopes of North Hill, Minehead. Listed Grade II, the property
is believed to have been built for a Scottish Confectioner, Mr Kennedy Cook, by
Architects William and Alexander Reed of Elgin and is finished in a Scottish
Baronial style with dressed red sandstone elevations under a pitched slate
roof. A particular feature of the house are the towers, two turreted and one
conical.
